The Standard British Diet and Its Impact on Health.

With recent research indicating that more nutritious diets across the population could prevent one in five early deaths (GBD, 2019) and papers indicating that overweight and obese people are more likely to be hospitalized and suffer complications due to Covid-19 (Petrilli et al. 2020), improving dietary intakes in the UK and globally is more important now than ever.

A large percentage of the British population fall below the recommended dietary intake of a variety of micronutrients, fibre and omega 3 fatty acids (GBD, 2019) which play a crucial role in overall health and are pivotal to immunity and inflammation in the body. The standard British diet of highly processed foods that are high in saturated fat and sugar and low in fibre, fruit and vegetables is a major contributing factor to these nutritional deficiencies (GBD, 2019).

Micronutrient insufficiency and general poor diet were shown to contribute significantly to chronic illness: type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and premature deaths (GBD,2019), along with impacting general health and wellbeing, immune function and risk of infections.

Full Stop provides a solution that works, as it provides the full nutritional profile of macro, micro and phytonutrients while addressing the often-cited barriers to a healthy diet including lack of time, taste, willpower and cost (Pinho et al, 2018).
